Think Before You Comment

Updated: Feb 24, 2020

HALT! Before you read this thinking I am going to be offering a proper social media instruction on how to scroll on to the next post instead of being what is dubbed a 'troll', please know this blog entry is focused on one thing and one thing only- learning how to properly comment on your friends posts who are in business. This whole practice comes from the ideology of You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero.

Good God in Heaven above have I had to bite my lip at so many comments this season. I have a few friends who I will message and say 'I deleted your comment because of this. I tell you and did it because I know you won't get mad- THANKS!' and we are fine. But I don't have this relationship with everyone so let this be my gentle nudge in the right direction.

I'm urging you- please think before you comment. What if you were a business owner- what if you are?! Look at the comment and think 'would I want someone to say that on my post of something I was trying to sell or share?'. Let me cover some examples:

  • I'm so broke!

  • I wish I could BUT

  • Ugh- you don't have it in the other option?

  • Why is it so much?

  • Well how much is the discount you are offering?

  • Can I pay for it two weeks from now?

  • That is way too expensive

  • That looks like something I can get from the cheap department store down the street

  • I don't purchase clothes/jewelry/etc. online

You get the idea. Anything that puts doubt into another persons mind, lessens the value, discusses pricing in a public setting- all of these things are SUPER rude.

Please know, I don't blame you. Not everyone is trained in the idea of 'can this affect someone's livelihood'. I sure as heck didn't realize what I was doing with my comments until the past few years and it came from reading books and shifting my focus to 'is what I have to say positive or negative?' Is it in a growth or fear mindset?'

Please know, if I delete your comment, it is because I am trying to create an environment of abundance. I really strive for everyone to be surrounding themselves in positivity to help get closer to our best lives. Who and what we surround ourselves with, really influences us. Making sure the Facebook communities we are in are influencing us for the better is so important!

If you are looking for ways to add more positivity in your life- start with how you comment on things! I then suggest checking out You Are A Badass and You Are A Badass At Making Money by Jen Sincero! Truly life changing books!

Thank you all for your understanding and willingness to learn and adjust!
