A lead magnet is a marketing term for a free (or heavily discounted) item or service that is given away for the purpose of gathering contact details. Super simple, right?
Lead magnets can be as simple as someone giving you their contact info for a freebie, a trial subscription, informative guides, free content or discounted consultations, classes- the list goes on! You more than likely have something you currently offer that could be considered a lead magnet.
The goal of a lead magnet is not only to get people's info, but to have them start associating you with a specific niche.
For instance, when you join The Classy Bish Collective on FB, I ask you for your email in the group questions to get you on my email list. In the second email you receive, you are offered 'The 5 Ways To Remember You Are 100% That Bish'. You are even able to get this guide from joining my email list from a Pinterest pin, or from different TikTok's I have made to funnel to it. Not only is the guide looping people back to my bishy brand, I talk about Sassfirmations (my line of affirmation cards), making a cup of tea, linking playlists on my site, and ultimately, telling people to join my community. My community is where I grow my connections and relationships.
They get info on ways to practice self care and where to find more ideas, I get their info to be able to keep sending them messages every so often.
I'm sure you see the ads all over Facebook and other places for THOUSANDS of content ideas for just x amount of dollars or 'Learn How to do XYZ' or even 'The Bish's Guide to Canva Basics'. Hmmm, that last one sounds familiar... The point, however, is to offer people a solution to a problem they face by establishing yourself as an authority figure.
